Most of the students those who are aspiring to become a doctor dream of studying medicine in Germany. The reason is that they keep noticing that medicine study in Germany is free. Yes it is FREE. Means you need not pay tuition fee while studying medicine there. But there are various steps involved in getting into that. I am trying to give a brief picture.
You need to undergo one year long foundation course in Germany at Studidenkolleg. To get into this institution you should have enough knowledge in Physics, Chemistry, Biology and you should be well versed in English. In addition German language proficiency at least A-2 level is compulsory.
Please note that you need to pay tuition fee for this foundation course and you are not legally permitted to work during this program. In addition you need to learn German Language B-1, B2 too during this foundation itself. So together it might take 12-18 months. Then you need to prepare for an exam called FSE ( Feststellungsprufung). If you crack good score then you are eligible to study medicine in leading public universities, without paying tuition fee.
The structure of the program would be 6 years 3 months (for medicine). 4 Semesters (2 years) Pre clinical phase, 6 semster (3 years) clinical and 12-15 months Practical year.
At the end you have to clear the state exam FSP (Fachspachsprufung). Cracking of this will award you the license to practice the noble profession. Here you will have to have German Language C-1 Proficiency too to sit for this exam.
Subsequently if you desire so, you are eligible to continue your studies towards specialization which might by minimum 3 years to 6 ./ 7 years depends on the branch you wish to specialize. The exam you need to clear is Kenntinusprufung.
